Thanks to a blurb on the Association for Latin Teaching blog I learned about a great online language learning tool, WordChamp. It is designed to supplement language classes with three tools: flashcards, networking, and their fantastic Web Reader.
WordChamp has millions of flashcards in more than 130 language, and students or teachers can create new ones as needed. They also help learners to find a suitable partner to practice with from the country of their choosing. My favourite part of the website is their Web Reader. You just enter the URL of the foreign language website you are interested in reading, and WordChamp will display the site and translate any word you point your mouse at. It couldn't be easier. I've been wanting something like this for years to help me read Spanish newspapers online. And did I mention it is free? Thank you, gracias, merci, and gratias tibi, WordChamp!
