It seems that Brazil has been toying with us. Their secret is out now, though. I just watched them tease Japan for 90 minutes, scoring four lovely goals. Japan did get one great goal early on, but otherwise the game was all Brazil, and all Brazilian. They could have scored more, but they were trying for the beautiful goal, the how-did-they-do-that?! goal. Their passes were almost too fast and intricate to follow on TV; it boggles the mind how they executed them. They seemed to hypnotize the Japanese team. You could almost hear the samba music by the end of the second half.
The "Man of the Match" was none other than Ronaldo, who has been taking so much flak lately for his lack of fitness. His sprinting days might be over, but today he scored with his head and with his foot, tying the lifetime World Cup goal record (14 goals). One more goal and he will have scored more World Cup goals than any other (male) player. Not bad for a slightly chunky guy with bad knees.
