García Márquez: Women and Men

Often García Márquez has contrasted women and men. "Men waver," he has said, "but women survive. Thanks to women, history is able to continue its normal course." It seems, he has added, "as if men are the protagonists of history, but if they are, it is because someone is giving them support from behind and that someone is a woman. My women are more in touch with reality." Men, he concludes, are impatient, untrustworthy, and in fact, are "weaklings."

I think Señor García and I are going to get along.
